Description
Kinda mild spoilers for the credits and just beforehand of Trials and Tribulations. Nothing major-storyline-wise, though.
It amuses me greatly how Maya and Pearl decided that, despite his utter lack of spiritual powers, Phoenix ought to train alongside them at the Hazakura Temple. And with the Special Course, no less - the one that involves sitting on a block of spirit ice and chanting a spell thirty thousand times while being showered with freezing cold spirit water. No wonder Nick objected.
Apparently his objection was overruled, however, as Pearl delightedly informs us during the credits that Mr. Nick went through with the Special Course all the way to the end!
...I hope for his sake she wasn't serious about the reservations for the super-secret "Ultra Course". Knowing Pearl, though, she probably was. x3
As much as I had immense fun drawing the characters in this, the water was a complete pain to do. The next time I get sudden inspiration for fanart which involves water or ice, I shall temporarily ignore my inner fangirl and think twice about it. >.<

You SAY that Phoenix has no spiritual powers, yet somehow I don't believe you in the slightest. I mean, there've been instances in the games where he's been able to see & hear Mia for very brief moments without the need of a medium. Then, there was that 1 time when he & Mia basically exorcized Dahlia from Maya's body by yelling at her.
I mean, just because the Fey clan & Khura'in has a culture where the ruling family is purely matrilineal & dictated by a spiritual type of female-focused gender dimorphism to the point of being misandristic, it doesn't mean that every other spiritually powerful family on the entire planet would work the same way.
